Watercolor Print of Elfreth's Alley in Old City Philadelphia.
Elfreth's Alley was named after a blacksmith who lived on the block in the mid 1800's,
Jeremiah Elfreth, he was a land speculator, who bought and sold, or rented many of the properties on that block. In the mid 1800's Philadelphia was in the midst of an economic boom and many artisans lived on
the block. Elfreth's alley is best known for the narrowness of the homes and street itself.
It still has the feel of how life must have been back in the 1800's.
